Hi again Andrico. In my course so far at Ada we've learnt Java and Processing (a design heavy version of Java). I choose to learn CSS, Python and Javascript in my own time. Additionally, at EY we have a Badges scheme to credit people with knowledge in certain areas, or to upskill ourselves so web-based code learning is available for free via the Badges courses.

For Assurance (on the QA programme). There's a particular focus on Data. You'll definitely use Python, SQL and probably R. There's an increasing focus on Big Data and Machine Learning as the programme progresses. You will have the opportunity to learn about Hadoop clusters as well as ML technologies such as MS Cognitive Services or TensorFlow in the final year.

Andrico Q.

Is it possible to change from consulting to assurance in the first year for example if the team felt it was better suited for you?

It's unusual for apprentices to switch service lines during the programmes. There's an interactive quiz on the website, which might help you find out more about each area. Here it is http://ukcareers.ey.com/EYandYOU

Additionally, the services lines are very different in the type of work they do, so switching is difficult. However, the work available within service lines is VERY broad so the likelihood is you'll find something you enjoy!
