What is your day to day life as a Tax adviser like, if varied to what extend does your day to day activites change?

Good question, sorry I didn't get an answer to you sooner.

The saying no two days are the same couldn't be more accurate for me in my role as a tax advisor. For most people in tax a varied workload will mean working on different clients, who will each present different challenges, or working under different accounting standards which again provides different challenges and opportunities to learn new approaches. And this will apply for both tax audit work and tax compliance work.

I on the other hand work in a split role spending 50% of my time on tax audits and compliance, meaning between January and April I work almost exclusively on one client. For the rest of the year however I work on tax technology and process improvement, which means I use modern technologies to help rethink how we do some of the processes we as a business perform and help solve the problems that our client teams face. So, everyday truly is a new challenge.

But in all honesty - no two people in tax have the same days as each other - we all have our own skill sets and niches and so whilst in the team we all work on tax we all have our own specialisms and it is marrying these up to the right situations that makes us a high performing team.
